Receives
State Association of the Year
Award
Officials at the National Rural Water
Association are pleased to announce that Kansas Rural
Water Association received the State Association of the
Year Award at the NRWA’s Annual Leadership Conference
held in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, October 19-22.
This prestigious State Association of the
Year award is selected from a compilation of scores from
other individual and association awards presented, as
well as association growth and other efforts in
assisting rural water systems. It projects a team
effort in all areas of professional association
operations and membership services.
For over 37 years, Kansas Rural Water
Association has been dedicated to helping public water
systems provide quality water and related services.
KRWA offers cities, rural water districts and
investor-owned utilities technical and managerial
assistance, up-to-date training and seminars, referrals
to agencies, timely advice on public policy issues, and
numerous partnerships for cutting edge service.
Since 1989 KRWA has completed over 680
water loss surveys, reducing annual water losses by 3.08
billion gallons for an annual cost savings of $5.02
million. They have conducted 416 operations reviews for
annual savings of $788,052 and also remapped all 289
rural water district boundaries. Bottom line, KRWA
provides assistance that systems need!
Kansas Rural Water Association was
selected as this year’s winner from a field of 48 state
associations.
The NRWA Awards in Excellence program was
established to recognize the outstanding efforts of the
Member State Affiliates, their staff, and special
members of the rural water industry.
The National
Rural Water Association is a non-profit federation of
State Rural Water Associations. Its mission:
to provide state associations with
support services to meet the needs of their membership.
Historically, NRWA’s state associations have trained
over 100,000 water and wastewater system personnel a
year for two decades and provided over 70,000 on-site
technical assistance visits a year. Local communities
have adopted over 7,000 ground water protection plans.
Additionally, an NRWA goal is to have all community
water supplies complete vulnerability assessments and
emergency response plans.
