Godden Receives National Rural Water Association’s USDA FSA Source Water Peer Leadership Award!


 

Carrie Godden, FSA Source Water Specialist for Alaska Rural Water Association, received highest honors from her peers when she was named the 2006 FSA USDA Source Water Specialist Peer Leader of the Year.  Peer Leadership Awards were presented at NRWA’s 20th Annual In-Service Training Seminar held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. 

The NRWA Peer Leadership Awards program was established to recognize the outstanding efforts of Rural Water Association representatives. Of all the USDA Source Water Specialist across the Nation, Godden was selected as this year’s winner for her dedication and service to ensuring safe drinking water supplies for future generations.  The NRWA Source Water Program started in 2004 as a pilot program in 32 states.   

Godden currently works as the FSA Source Water Protection Specialist for Alaska Rural Water Association. She started 2 years ago when Alaska was awarded the FSA SWP program and she has loved it ever since.  

Prior to joining ARWA she worked as a water system operator for a number of small water systems. Godden has a B.S. in Natural Science and Environmental Management. 

Godden stated, “The Source Water Protection Specialists nationwide have made water protection a priority and passion in their lives and have assisted me and the Alaska Source Water Protection Program in ways they’ll never know.”  

Godden and her husband have been married for 15 years and have 3 beautiful children ages 6, 10, and 12; 1 boy and 2 girls, respectively. 

The National Rural Water Association is a federation of 48 State Rural Water Associations serving over 24,558 water and wastewater utility members in 49 states with additional programs in Honduras and Puerto Rico. 

NRWA members form a solid foundation for Team Rural Water.  Upholding the motto of “Quality On Tap!” Rural Water Associations provide small communities in every state with management and technical resources to supply safe and affordable water.
