July 26, 2010 Sternberg testifies before Senate committee
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Dennis Sternberg, executive director of the
Arkansas Rural Water 
Association, testified before the Senate Committee on Agriculture,
Nutrition and Forestry on July 21 in Washington, D.C. Sternberg’s testimony related funding issues in Arkansas and income barriers in small communities. Testimony also discussed the services the ARWA provided to small communities and the reality that many small utilities would not be able to meet EPA standards without this assistance. Sternberg’s testimony was well-received. Those present at the hearing include Chairman Blanche Lincoln, Ranking Member Saxby Chambliss, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, Senator Charles Grassley, Senator Mike Johanns, Senator Amy Klobuchar, Senator Ben Nelson, Senator Pat Roberts, Senator Debbie Stabenow and Senator John Thune.
