LRWA to advise Municipal Association, Credeur named to board

BATON ROUGE, La. – The Executive Board of the Louisiana Municipal Association has officially designated the Louisiana Rural Water Association as its newest advisory member and named its executive director, Patrick Credeur, as an advisory board member.
Credeur  has directed the association's services and programs for water and wastewater operations in Louisiana's rural communities since December, 1990. The LRWA, from its base in Kinder, provides training and technical assistance to help water and wastewater operators and their systems achieve compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act. LRWA also provides circuit-rider programs, leadership and board training for governing officials and utility managers, and energy consumption and efficiency programs.
In addition, Credeur assists the utility systems, including large public water systems that have received administrative orders, in achieving and maintaining compliance with federal and state laws and regulations. Credeur also works with the Louisiana Legislature and Congressional Delegation and many federal and state agencies on legislative matters and policy issues vital to the state's rural water and wastewater systems.
Under Credeur's leadership, the LRWA conducts annual conferences and certification training courses for its 1,500-plus members, which include system operators and personnel, mayors, utility managers, clerks, and other decision-makers. The training/certification program spans every aspect of drinking water safety and efficient wastewater operation.
The National Rural Water Association honored LRWA with the "Quality on Tap Leadership Award" in 2005for its dedicated assistance to systems affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. LRWA staff took several months and countless hours of hard work to restore power and provide onsite technical assistance to the affected utility systems.
"The LMA is proud to partner with an organization of such high caliber as the Louisiana Rural Water Association and welcomes LRWA and its executive director, Patrick Credeur, to our Executive Board," said LMA President Susan Menard, mayor of Cankton. "The LWRA's mission and scope of services truly benefit its member villages, towns, and cities, all of whom are also members of the Louisiana Municipal Association. The LMA looks forward to an even closer collaboration with Louisiana Rural Water on the many issues and program services in which we share a mutual interest."
Credeur is co-chairman of the Louisiana Fluoridation Advisory Board and Louisiana Water/Wastewater Agency Response Network (LaWARN) and chairman of the National Rural Water Association Emergency Response Committee. He also serves on the Louisiana Groundwater Management Advisory Task Force, Louisiana Broadband Council, Louisiana Conference on Water, Sewer, and Industrial Waste, and Southeastern Regional Small Public Water Systems Technical Assistance Center Advisory Board.
