Arkansas Rural Water awarded $50,000 from USDA

WASHINGTON, D.C. –  U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor and U.S. Representative Marion Berry (AR-01) today announced that the Arkansas Rural Water Association in Lonoke, Arkansas, will receive $50,000 in Rural Development funds from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).  The funding will be used to purchase a sewer camera and trailer, which will be used to help identify inflow and filtration problems within the systems.
“These federal dollars will help provide critical water infrastructure improvements,” said Lincoln. “I’m pleased to see this investment in our state, and I remain committed to ensuring that Arkansas receives the funding and resources we need to stay strong.”
"In many of our rural communities today, infrastructure projects are piling up as resources become tighter. These federal funds will help Lonoke improve its sewer infrastructure, attract new investment and jobs, and improve the quality of life in the community," Pryor said.
"Access to clean, safe water is essential for any community to prosper and rural communities are no exception," said Berry.  "This funding will help the City of Lonoke to improve and modernize their water infrastructure, which will help the community continue to remain strong and support growth for the local economy."
USDA Rural Development's mission is to increase economic opportunity and improve the quality of life for rural residents. Rural Development fosters growth in homeownership, finances business development, and supports the creation of critical community and technology infrastructure.
