April 22, 2008 The Annual Great American Water Taste Test
The taste test is held each year on Capitol Hill in
conjunction with the National Rural Water Association’s Annual Rally
in Washington, D.C. annual Rally in Washington, D.C. NRWA
represents over 26, 242 rural and small utilities across the nation
and many of them compete in this event. State rural water
associations conduct preliminary competitions, selecting the best
water from small and rural systems to represent their state at the
national finals.
Every April, the National Rural Water Association sponsors the Rural Water Rally and Great American Taste Test on Capitol Hill to give utility and state officials an opportunity to visit one-on-one with their Congressional representatives and discuss key water and wastewater issues. Special guests for the Rally this year include James Andrews, the Administrator for Rural Utilities Service; Teresa Lasseter, the Administrator for Farm Service Agency and Ben Grumbles for the EPA Office of Water. We encourage our people to be in attendance on Monday morning. For the first time, Ben Grumbles, Assistant Administrator for the Office of Water in EPA, will be one of the judges for the taste test. Teresa Lasseter, Administrator, Farm Service Agency will also be a judge. The medals for the 2007 contest were presented to the following systems: 2007 - (Gold Medal) Three Rivers Fire District, Massachusetts 2007 - (Silver Medal) Town of Avilla, Indiana 2007 - (Bronze Medal) Mount Shasta, California If you are looking for the best tasting water in the nation it will be on Capitol Hill April 22nd, 2008 ! | ||
