Under Secretary for Rural Development Judges Taste Test

Great Water in D.C.?

You bet it can happen, especially when the National Rural Water Association descends on Capitol Hill during its 2008 Rural Water Rally!  In an effort to bring national attention to the high quality of water provided by small and rural water utilities, the National Rural Water Association is sponsoring the 8th Annual Great American Water Taste Test, a nationwide competition.

The 9th Annual Great American Water Taste Test will be held during the NRWA Luncheon Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at Noon

The National Rural Water Association, “America’s Largest Utilities Association,” is comprised of more than 25,735 water and wastewater systems from all 50 states..  

  • Each State Affiliate is allowed only one entry.
     
  • State Association must provide 1/2 (half) gallon of their entry’s water.
      
  • The preliminaries will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, April 21 at the Hyatt Regency with 5 finalists being selected by a panel of judges.
     
  • The five finalists advance for final judging during the NRWA Luncheon.
     
  • Water is judged based on three attributes.
     
    • Clarity
    • Bouquet
    • Taste
       
  • The Final Judges for the 9th Annual Great American Water Taste Test are: TBA
     
  • The taste test is held each year in conjunction with the National Rural Water Association’s Annual Rally in Washington, D.C.
     
  • State Rural Water Associations conduct preliminary competitions selecting the best water from small and rural systems to represent their state at the national finals.
